Setting Up A Sewing Studio

I went to see my friend’s new sewing studio. It’s a 4 hour trip one way. I can’t believe it was two weeks ago. Time is flying. Sally is in the process of setting her studio up. It is wonderful – bright and spacious. Roy, her husband, commissioned the wall hanging for her.

Flamingos and cats are a long story between us. Sally started the flamingo gift giving. Years later (40+) and we are still exchanging flamingos.

As for cats…Sally and Roy have 4 cats and Bert and I have 6 cats. All the cats are rescues. We are at capacity. There will be no more rescued cats. No matter how cute.

Back to the wall hanging. It was a fun project. I got to work with a Cricut machine for the lettering and date. So a special thanks to Tom and Teresa for sharing the Cricut machine. I promise to return it…some day.

I also used the projector my husband gave me years ago. I almost gave it away because I wasn’t using it. Then this wall hanging project came along and the projector worked like a charm for creating the cat and sewing machine appliqué pattern.

While I was visiting with Sally I used her sit down long-arm (a Bernina Q20) to quilt a Christmas wall hanging. It took me 1/2 a day to remember how to connect the foot pedal and thread it. YouTube is my next best friend. Lol.

Sally settled a few more things in place while I quilted. Now all I have to do is put a hanging sleeve on the back and bind the quilt. With two commissioned projects in the work Sally may be fully settled in her studio before I finish the Christmas wall hanging. If so, it will definitely warrant another visit to see the final set up. Any excuse to see a dear friend.
