A Whale Baby Quilt

I finished this quilt in March 2016. The pattern was designed by Lisa Muilenburg for Counted Quilts.

When I first started quilting I would tape the backing down on the floor wrong side up. Then lay the batting on top of the backing. On top of that I laid the top, right side up. Finally, sitting or kneeling on the floor I would pin the quilt. Lots of pins were needed to stabilized the three layers of fabric (as shown below).

The whale was quilted all over with a small clamshell design. Each fish was quilted and circles, for bubbles, were added on the lighter blue background.

Below is the finished quilt. The size is 36” x 42”.
