We celebrated our granddaughter’s 5th birthday this Saturday. So hard to believe she is 5. I made the quilt above for her 1st birthday, but never labeled it. Since it was at our house I had plenty of opportunities, but was always distracted by other new projects. I finally did it. It’s not fancy but I will improve with practice. And maybe when she is older she will appreciate the quilt’s history.

In other news I bought a spray mister bottle at our local Bernina shop. I love it. Before I was using a regular spray bottle. The difference is amazing. Instead of uneven big water droplets I now get an even mist of water.

The pin jar was made and gifted by my friend Linda. The top is padded so pins stick and stay there. I love the colors and functionality.
Sally gave me the seam ripper made by her husband, Roy. It not only pretty to look at. It is a nice weight and fits my hand comfortably. As Teresa would say it is not my quilt until I rip something out. Needless to say this seam ripper gets a lot of use.

Next week I should get back the above tshirt quilt from The Quilt Peddler. They are our local longarmer. This is my second time taking a flimsie to her for quilting. The first one, Fun in the Sun, was in October 2021. It came out fabulous. I can’t wait to see this one. I picked a Bauhaus design (see below) for the quilting.

This August and September I have been working hard on another commissioned quilt for Melody. Melody has been a long time supporter of my quilting. I have made numerous quilts for her. The quilts have been collaborative efforts and fun. I’m thankful for the friendship and support.
Other partners in my quilting dream are Linda, Sally, and Teresa. Linda has helped me do the math and design work on many a projects. What fun we’ve had pondering color, design, and the math. Sally for introducing me to quilting and letting me spend long weekends on her sit down long arm. Teresa for sharing a love of all things crafting and the many weekend adventures we’ve had with our husbands exploring back roads and discovering new antique and quilting stores. Last, but not least, my husband, a partner in life and quilting. Wait, did I just separate life and quilting? Bert knows I am obsessed with quilting. Bert has graciously suffered through numerous iterations of the question, “what do you think of this design now?”
And to my readers, thank you for reading, commenting, and in general supporting me in my blogging/quilting journey.
We’ve all got those 5 year (or more!) quilts, but a done quilt is a good quilt!

I’ve had quilts that have taken longer for various reasons so 5 years is not so bad. Done is always my favorite word but like many quilters, when we have more than one project in the pipeline, things get moved to the bottom of the list. You are doing wonderful work here. Mine are stacking up like flights at Kennedy airport. Not a bored moment to be seen though, right?
