I didn’t know it was national sewing month, but it’s a great reason to spend more time in my quilting room. I have a number of projects and quilts at various stages toward completion.
Right now I’m working on a mermaid lap throw. I have the top sandwiched to batting and backing. It is ready to quilt. There was no pattern for this. I started it years ago and couldn’t decide on how to finish. When I finished the fish quilt, I returned to this one.
I ended up ripping out the previous work and playing on the design wall for quite awhile before I settled on this design. It is 52”x51” . A comfortable size for a lap throw.

I have four mini quilts ready for quilting. And panels for more mini quilts. Thanks Teresa and Tom.
I have fabric for a beautiful cream and navy lap throw and more fabric for a wonderful Christmas wall hanging. I have a Christmas lap throw top finished and ready to be sandwiched. Plus, I have a large stash of fabric and patterns waiting their turn.
Whether I am in front of my design wall wrestling with the latest design or in front of my sewing machine piecing together the latest project, I can lose track of time or the worries of the day. Alternately stressful and stress relieving, quilting has been a gift to me. Thanks Mom for teaching me how to use a sewing machine so many years ago.
Happy National Sewing Month.
love your work
