American Quilter’s Society Quilt Week

My friend from Tampa, Sally, and I got together at AQS Quilt Show this past week. It was so good to see her again. We have maintained our friendship since we first met in college those many moons ago. She talked me into going to my first quilt show. It is becoming an annual tradition.

The quilts were splendid and from around the world. The quilt below was from Japan and won best in show.

Some of the other quilts that caught my eye included

Tic Tok by Paula Klaassen from Oklahoma. Quilted by Ann Olson
Selvages a la Rococo by Cheryl L. See from Dayton, MD

The above on closer examination contains surprises like spiders and ladybugs. The work is intricate and a joy to behold.

Janet Stone with her alphabet quilts was well represented with two award winning quilts in the exhibit.

My husband likes all things nautical so I had to send him a picture of this quilt.

Ladies of the Seas quilt by Joan Brink

There were wonderful Quilts of Valor quilts. I thought this quilt was a different take on a Quilt of Valor than I have seen.

So many great quilts. These are just a sampling but, I could not take pictures of them all. In closing, I will leave you with the picture I took of the view from dinner on the second night.

  1. These are beautiful and I am so glad that you got to visit with Sally. I know that you are anxious to start quilting after being inspired by the show.
