Oh my! What fun! It’s National Quilting Month and March 18th is National Quilting Day. Quilting deserves its recognition. According to Premier Needle Arts’ 2022 survey, there are an estimated 9-11 million active quilters in U.S. and Canada. And, by 2026, quilting is expected to grow into a $5 billion dollar industry. That’s a lot of creative people.
Last summer I told someone I was a quilter. It drew an unexpected reaction. He laughed. Based on the incredible art I keep seeing at quilting exhibits, this current data, and the joy being a visual artist brings me I accept that it was a reaction based on ignorance on so many levels.
I want to thank my husband for his unfailing support over the years and thanks to my friends who share the joy of being creative. Here’s to many more years of celebrating National Quilting Month and National Quilting Day!
